OUR PURPOSE

To support education leaders from diverse backgrounds to be the catalysts for transforming public education and ensure that all students have access to excellent educational opportunities.

The Cambiar Catalyst Fellowship accelerates the most promising diverse talent into instructionally-focused senior school systems roles, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to work with their communities and enact transformational change.

We are building a strong national network of diverse leaders to create lasting, dramatic change in our public school systems. Nationally, we have observed how much the actions of educational systems leaders matter right now - making critical decisions that influence not only the academic achievement of its students but the economic viability of its communities. They must possess the political and change leadership skills to support initiatives that produce equitable outcomes for all kids.

The Fellowship identifies, develops, and supports the most promising senior systems talent to tackle and lead initiatives that solve complex systemic challenges, such as improving academic standards, supporting an increasing ELL population, and increasing support for special needs students. Our unique formula of coaching, professional development, cohort camaraderie, feedback and online learning result in fellows posed for promotion and impact.

Since the beginning of the Fellowship, 73% of fellows identify as people of color, 70% as women, and two-thirds have served as principals prior to joining Catalyst.

Fellows hold senior leadership roles in districts and organizations serving more than 2.67 million students.

In the history of the Fellowship, nearly two-thirds of our fellows are promoted within a year of completing the program. They are moving into senior leadership and Cabinet-level positions, including many Chief Academic Officers, which our partners routinely cite as their “hardest to fill” position. Some have already reached the Superintendent or CEO role.

Thanks to Catalyst, I am able to take concrete learning back to work after every webinar or seminar to share with my team, and pass on the knowledge.
— Chief Academic Officer
