Fellowship Role: Executive Director, Early Childhood, New York City Department of Education

Xanthe Jory is currently the Chief Policy and Planning Officer for the Division of Early Childhood Education at the New York City Department of Education.

Previously, she served in the division as the Executive Director of Expansion, Policy, and Performance. During the Fellowship, Xanthe was the Executive Director of Early Childhood at the New York City Department of Education. Prior to this role, Xanthe served as the Senior Director of Design and Development for the Office of New Schools at the NYC DOE. In this role, she designed and led the twice-yearly selection process for principals who propose and open new schools throughout New York City. Xanthe is also a former principal, having founded the Bronx Charter School for the Arts, and a former TNTP staff member. Xanthe is a Board Member of the Children’s Learning Center, a private preschool. In 2012, she was selected to be a Chancellor’s Fellow at the NYC DOE.

Xanthe holds a B.A. in Urban Studies from Stanford University, an M.S. in Elementary Education from Lehman College, and an Ed.M. in School Leadership from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
