Fellowship Role: Principal and Leadership Fellow, Austin Independent School District
David Kauffman is currently serving as the Founder of Kauffman Education, LLC.
Prior to his current role, David was the Executive Director of Multilingual Education for Austin Independent School District. During the Fellowship, he was a Principal and Leadership Fellow with the Austin ISD. Prior to the Fellowship, he had served since 2005 as a principal in Austin Independent School District, where he supported elementary students in a high-poverty and high-ELL community. In 2006, David opened a Title I school, which he led in achieving the state’s Recognized rating in 2009-2011. David also served as a Mentor Principal for the University of Texas Principalship Program and initiated and led a voluntary principal study group that addressed problems of practice through focused visits to each other’s schools. David serves on numerous district advisory groups, and in 2013, David was named Principal of the Year by the Austin Independent School District and Communities in Schools (Best of Texas).
David holds a B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University and both an M.Ed. with dual concentration in Administration, Planning, & Social Policy and Learning & Teaching and an Ed.D. in Administration, Planning, & Social Policy from Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
