Konise Millender, San Antonio ISD, CTE Coordinator
As a program coordinator, Konise Millender supports schools, teachers and students in their career pathway education. She has overseen Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, Audio/Visual, Health Science, Cosmetology, Education and Training, Architecture and Construction career programs. Konise Millender is also one of the founding contributors to Cyber P-Tech, USA- the first public Cyber Security Early College High School in San Antonio. She is currently the president of the Black Educators Advisory Council at SAISD where she has the pleasure of working with many other talented educators
committed to improving academic scores of Black and African-American children for the betterment of themselves and the district.
Konise Millender holds a Master’s in Administrative- Educational Leadership from Trinity University as well as a Master’s in Teaching from the University of Incarnate Word (San Antonio) and a Bachelor’s in Communications: Radio, Television and Film from St. Mary’s University. She diligently works to find innovative ways to connect humanity and technology in a way that allows her learning community to push forward toward emerging technologies while maintaining uniquely human characteristics in how teaching is delivered and learning is received.
Prior to working as a district administrator in San Antonio ISD, she championed teacher voice and choice and student voice and choice throughout her career where she led students of all abilities and socio economic backgrounds to college and enriching careers. She is most proud of the work she has done with students placed in alternative school assignments. She created a system that ensured high school students would receive the same education as their peers who were not suspended. Konise Millender continues to encourage education as a way to improve oneself and the community. She is currently working on several projects to improve STEM education in inner city schools. She is the main district support person for all new teachers in CTE and recently helped push the retention rate for new teachers from 78 to 92%.
Konise is also the city NAACP Chair for ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics) where she prepares high school students from around the city to compete Nationally while training them to prepare for their futures.
