Gordon Klasna, Billings Public Schools, Executive Director of Secondary Education
Gordon Klasna is a respected educational leader with a proven track record of advancing student achievement and fostering innovation in Montana’s public schools. He currently serves as the Executive Director of Secondary Education for Billings Public Schools, where he oversees strategic initiatives across the district's middle and high schools, focusing on student engagement, academic performance, and equity.
Prior to his current role, Gordon was instrumental in the development and success of Lockwood High School, where he served as its founding principal. Under his leadership, the high school quickly gained recognition for its student-centered approach, strong academic programming, and supportive school culture. His earlier work as principal of Eileen Johnson Middle School in the Lockwood School District earned him Montana’s “Principal of the Year” award, reflecting his dedication to educational excellence and positive school environments.
Gordon has been at the forefront of innovative programming, including the creation of Project Engage, which supports students at risk of dropping out, and the development of the Opportunity School, an alternative high school designed to meet the needs of nontraditional learners in Billings. These initiatives showcase his commitment to expanding access and opportunity for all students.
