Craig Lyle, Aurora Public Schools, Chief of School Leadership and Support
Craig Lyle currently serves as the Chief of School Leadership and Support for Aurora Public Schools in Colorado. In this role, he works to advance district priorities and oversees critical departments, including school performance, student behavior supports, safety and security, compliance, athletics, and student registration. He plays a key leadership role in the design and implementation of Destination APS, the district’s new strategic plan focused on academic excellence, student well-being, post-secondary readiness, and inclusive community engagement.
Craig also serves as the district’s Incident Response Commander, leading emergency preparedness and crisis response efforts with a focus on maintaining safe and supportive learning environments. His leadership is rooted in operational excellence, equity-centered practices, and a deep commitment to trauma-informed education.
Prior to this role, Craig served as APS’s Chief Operating Officer and as Principal of Columbia Middle School, where he guided the school to multiple Colorado Department of Education Performance Ratings and led the implementation of trauma-informed, biologically sensitive practices during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over his 20+ year career in Aurora Public Schools, Craig has also served as a teacher, dean, assistant principal, and director, contributing to the launch of new campuses and innovative instructional models.
Craig holds a B.A. in Social Sciences from Colorado State University and a Master’s in School Administration from the University of Phoenix. He is an active member of the Colorado Association of School Executives, Leadership Aurora, the Aurora SAVE Governing Board, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Denver YMCA.
