Ali Muhammad, Chicago Public Schools, Deputy Chief: Student Readiness-Office of College and Career Success

Deputy Chief Ali N. Muhammad is a proud native of the Roseland Community on the far South Side of Chicago. He is a proud graduate of George Henry Corliss High School, Class of 1989. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in English-Education from Rust College (1996) and his Master’s degree in School Leadership from Concordia University (2007).

Deputy Muhammad has been an educator for the past twenty-eight years. His roles in education have been a Teacher, Assistant Principal, School Turnaround Administrator, and Principal. While Deputy Muhammad has enjoyed serving students in these various roles and positions, the position that he considers to be his greatest professional accomplish was serving as the Principal of his alma mater, Corliss High School, from March 2017 to August 2022.

Deputy Muhammad currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Student Readiness in the Office of College and Career Success. In this District level role, Deputy Muhammad is responsible for supporting the Office of Student Support and Engagement, the Office of Social Emotional Learning, the Office of Sports Administration, and the Office of Sustainable Community Schools. It is a well-known fact that Deputy Muhammad “loves the kids.” He considers it an honor and privilege to be a part of the village that prepares young people for the future.
