Matthew McCrea is the Head of School at Meridian Public Charter School, located in Washington, D.C. In this role, he oversees all academic and operational aspects of Meridian's campuses. During his tenure, Meridian was one of the only schools to demonstrate growth on state assessments during the course of the pandemic. Prior to his role at Meridian, Matthew served as the Principal of Benjamin D. Foulois Creative and Performing Arts Academy, a nationally-recognized school for the arts in Prince George's County, Maryland. Matthew has also served as an instructional coach and middle school math teacher, is an alumnus of New Leaders for New Schools, and was named an ASCD Emerging Leader in 2015.

Matthew holds a BA in Mathematics and Education Policy (with honors) from the University of Chicago, an MAT in Secondary Mathematics Education from American University, and is completing his PhD in Education Policy Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park.
