Markisha Mitchell is the Associate Superintendent of Accountability and Continuous Improvement DeKalb County School District  

Markisha Mitchell is the Markisha Mitchell is the Associate Superintendent of Accountability and Continuous Improvement DeKalb County School District. In this role, she serves as project manager for various superintendent initiatives, oversees director-level professional development, is the chair of the DEIB leadership committee, and supports strategic planning. Prior to the fellowship, Markisha served as a junior high school principal in Joliet, Illinois. She also served as principal, assistant principal and teacher in Elgin U-46 Public Schools. During her tenure as a school leader, Markisha increased student growth on districtwide benchmark assessments to over 65% in math and ELA. Most recently Markisha received a Special Recognition Award from the Illinois State Board of Education for her work in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB).

Markisha holds a Ed.D in Educational Leadership from National-Louis University Chicago, a MAT in Educational Administration from Concordia University Chicago, a MAT in Teaching from National-Louis University Chicago and a B.S. in Marketing from Illinois State University.
