Diego Calderon is a School Support Officer in Houston ISD. In this role, directs and oversees the academic programs for students in the district and works in collaboration with leaders to support the students they serve. Prior to serving in this role, Diego was the principal of Burbank Elementary where he and the school received local, state, and national distinctions for increasing low-income student performance. During his tenure, he was awarded the 2018 HISD North Area Principal of the Year, the HISD Excellence in Education Award, the 2017 NCUST Gold Award for America's Best Urban School, the Top Gold Ribbon Performing Campus Distinction from Children at Risk, multi-year State of Texas distinctions in all accountability areas, and the HEB Excellence in Education School Principal Finalist Award.
