Bonnie Johnson-Aten is the Executive Director of School Leadership for the Burlington School district

In this role, Bonnie works to foster an inclusive leadership culture focused on ensuring equitable experiences and outcomes for all students. Creating a system of support for principals to grow as leaders and developing a strategic partnership between the central office and all district schools. Prior to joining the fellowship, Bonnie served as the principal of Edmunds Middle School where she lead the successful implementation of a one-to-one laptop program supported by the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS) a program that provided mobile technology to extend learning beyond the walls of the classroom. During her time in the Burlington School District Bonnie has served as the Diversity & Equity Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and Elementary Principal. Before joining the Burlington School, Bonnie worked as an educational policy analyst for Vermont Governor Howard Dean.

Bonnie holds an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Union Institute and University and a BA from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
