Katie Dormont is the Senior Associate Director of Special Education and English Language Learners at Uncommon Schools NYC.
In this role she manages professional development, special education programming, and behavior support for Uncommon’s 24 schools in NYC. Her work focuses on building the leadership of school-based Special Ed. leaders to drive intervention programs at their schools. She also built and manages Uncommon NYC’s first English as a New Language program. She previously served as the Learning Support Coordinator and Instructional Leader at Leadership Prep Brownsville Elementary in Brooklyn, NY, and a special education teacher at the NYC Dept. of Education.
Katie holds an M.A. in Severe and Multiple Disabilities from Teachers College, Columbia University and a B.A. from Boston College in French and Communications.
