Fellowship Role: Chief Transformation Officer for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) in Evansville, Indiana.
Carrie Hillyard is the Chief Transformation Officer for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) in Evansville, Indiana.
In this role, Carrie works closely with the superintendent to support the successful implementation of the district’s strategic and continuous improvement planning process. She also manages special transformational projects and supports all departments with process improvement and organizational change. Driven by frustrations with the social and racial injustices of her students as a former elementary school teacher and principal, Carrie has dedicated her career to playing a part in helping to systemically address the root causes of inequities that too often play out as predictable barriers to student success. Previously, Carrie served as the Director of Title I as well as the Director of School Transformation, launching Indiana’s first Transformation Zone as she led the district’s proactive turnaround efforts.
Carrie is A.B.D. as a participant in the Transformational Urban Leadership Cohort at Indiana State University. She also holds an M. A. in Education/Curriculum Studies from Indiana University and a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Indiana. Carrie also earned her Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from Purdue University.
