Fellowship Role: District Director, Business Services, Accountability, and Performance, Miami-Dade County Public Schools (Miami, FL)

Sasha Lopez currently works in the Superintendent’s Office in Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS).

In this capacity, she supports key functions and innovations related to system-wide performance and the day-to-day operations of the school system. Prior to this, Sasha served as Executive Director in the Office of Human Capital Management, where she worked on the division’s special projects and helped coordinate a realignment of central office operational divisions that reduced district expenditures by several million dollars. Sasha also worked in Miami-Dade’s Office of School Improvement and supported the data needs of a team of 85 instructional experts who provided direct support to the district’s lowest-performing schools. In that role, she worked to identify solutions to school-site barriers inhibiting student achievement that could then be scaled districtwide. Sasha began her career with M-DCPS as a Teach for America Corps member at Miami Central Senior High School.

Sasha holds an M.A. from Teachers College at Columbia University, an M.Ed. from the University of Miami, and a B.A. from Cornell University.
