Current Role: Senior Vice President, Teach For America

Fellowship Role: Curriculum and Instruction Director, Raymondsville ISD

Dr. Paula Gama-Garcia currently serves as a Senior Vice President at Teach For America.

During the Fellowship, Paula was the Curriculum and Instruction Director for Raymondsville Independent School District.  Previously, Paula was the Program Manager of the Early College Expansion Program at Educate Texas. She was responsible for establishing and developing early college structures in two of the largest school districts in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas – Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD and Brownsville ISD – to increase the number of students that are college-ready, connected, and complete. Previously, Paula served as founding principal of IDEA Academy, Donna, of IDEA Public Schools. IDEA Public Schools is locally and nationally recognized for ensuring that 100% of their students matriculate and go on to college. Prior to joining IDEA Public Schools, Paula taught bilingual students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in the Mercedes, TX, Independent School District.

Paula holds a B.A. and a double M.S. in Spanish Literature and Education from the University of Texas-Pan American as well as a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Texas A&M University.
