Johannah Chase currently serves as a Senior Program Officer for the Walton Family Foundation.
During the Fellowship, Johannah was the Chief Operating Officer, Division of Students with Disabilities & English Learners for the New York City Department of Education. She joined the NYC DOE in 2008 with the Empowerment Schools Organization working on the Children First Network pilot and later managing the expansion of the pilot citywide to reinvent the City's school support structure into self-selected networks of schools. Prior to joining the NYC DOE, Johannah taught 8th grade English at KIPP: STAR in Harlem and was a 2005 Teach For America corps member, teaching 8th grade mathematics at The Essence School in Brooklyn, where she also coached track. She began her career in education working for Teach For America's Southern California Recruitment Team.
Johannah holds a B.A. in Government from Cornell University and an M.S.Ed. from Pace University.
