Rick Trujillo, Chicago Public Schools, Deputy Chief of the Office For Students with Disabilities

Mr. Rick Trujillo currently serves as Deputy Chief of the Office For Students with Disabilities. Rick has served CPS students for over 24 years. He has been a teacher, principal of both high school and elementary schools, Deputy Chief of Schools, and Executive Director of School Resource Strategy prior to his current role. He believes strongly in great neighborhood schools providing the best instruction for every child. His work has always centered around growing leaders, and developing systems and structures specific to the needs of the community. A proud first-generation Cuban-American and CPS alum, Rick sees public education as the gateway to prosperity, especially for the disadvantaged. His family emigrated to the U.S. from Cuba in 1966, and he is a product of public education. The first in his family to receive both a college and graduate degree, he most recently received his IL Superintendent Endorsement from UIC and holds degrees from Loyola and DePaul Universities. Rick has a passion for serving Chicago’s students. He sees leadership development and collaboration with colleagues and partners as keys to success. He believes all students should receive a high quality education, consisting of rich and engaging experiences. He leverages his decades of educational experience and knowledge within Chicago Public Schools to support the vision of students receiving a rigorous and joyful educational experience.
