Dr. Nia Campbell, South San Francisco Unified School District, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning

Dr. Nia Campbell is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning with South San Francisco Unified School District.

Dr. Campbell is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning with South San Francisco Unified School District. In this role, she serves a a cabinet member supporting the strategic implementation of district priorities, objectives, and improvement efforts for student success. Nia also plans, organizes, and supervises departments, supporting a student centered approach which aligns district-wide efforts in the direction and coordination of curriculum instruction and evaluation, professional development, multilingual learners, students qualifying for special services, and other student support services.

Nia previously served as Chief Academic Officer for Aurora Public Schools where she led the Division of Equity in Learning. Her division was comprised of five subdivisions: Curriculum Assessment and Instruction, Family Advocacy Registration and Engagement, Student Services, School Leadership and Support, and Professional Learning. Her work included the redesign of human and fiscal supports to schools and the community. She and her team strategically coordinated the execution of the district’s strategic plan, ensuring that instructional programming and supports were high quality, research-based, focused on student learning, and prioritized to meet the individual needs of all students through equitable access to quality resources.

She began her educational career as a high school mathematics teacher and later became a dropout prevention teacher supporting student success toward graduation in each of the core subject areas. She continued to serve students as an Assistant Principal for Student Affairs, Assistant Principal for Curriculum & Instruction, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education. Nia's degrees are as follows: Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, a Specialist’s Degree in Educational Leadership, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, and a BA in Mathematics.
