Nakita Green is the principal of Democracy Prep Charter Middle School, the flagship of Democracy Prep Public Schools in New York City. In this role, she oversees the school’s campus serving as its educational leader, charged with shaping the instructional vision and school culture. Prior to joining the fellowship, Nakita was a Leader U Fellow at Harlem Prep High School, where she completed a one-year intensive leadership preparation program. Before joining Democracy Prep, Nakita served as the Middle School Dean of Students at Classical Charter Schools in the South Bronx. She also taught middle school science, chemistry, and physics in Nashville, TN for 5 years. A native of Arkansas, Nakita is passionate about the increase of educational equity because she believes that education is the great equalizer for communities of color.

Nakita holds an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction and a B.S. in Biology from The Tennessee State University.
