Melody Coryell, Executive Director of Postsecondary Readiness for Indianapolis Public Schools and International Baccalaureate Lead Educator. In this role, she is dedicated to ensuring all students have access to quality educational programs. Mel was inspired to pursue her path at a young age. In second grade, she was accepted into an educational program in Kokomo, Indiana, that demonstrated to Coryell how education can open a young person’s eyes to the world and, in the process, change lives.

Coryell worked in professional development at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis and spent more than a decade as the IB coordinator and an English teacher at Lawrence North High School. For eight years, Mel served as a teacher and founding IB coordinator at Shortridge High School, Indiana's only IB-for-all urban, public, open-access high school. In 2015, Mel received the Milken Educator Award as recognition of her work with expanding access to rigorous programs. Coryell earned dual bachelor’s degrees from Ball State University, a teaching degree at Indiana Wesleyan University, and an MFA from Butler University. She is currently pursuing an EdD in Educational Leadership from Indiana University Bloomington.
