Mayra Ramon serves as School Support Officer for the Houston Independent School District. During her twenty-three years of service with HISD, she has had various roles including School Support Officer, principal, assistant principal, teacher specialist and classroom teacher. Under her leadership, the campuses that she supports have made significant academic gains performing at the highest levels for student progress and have moved out of D or F rated status. Before this, Ms. Ramon served as a building principal for over nine years at Sanchez Elementary and Crespo Fine Arts Magnet School. Under her leadership, both campuses earned the highest ratings from the Texas Education Agency. In additon, Sanchez Elementary was named a two-time bronze and silver national award winner from the National Center of Urban School Transformation, earned multiple Houston Top Gold Ribbons from the Children at Risk Organization, and earned all TEA Distinctions.

Ms. Ramon graduated cum laude from the University of Texas–Pan American with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Bilingual/Bicultural studies, and earned a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix.
