Fumie Ichikawa is the Director of Research and Assessment for Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS)
Fumie Ichikawa is the Director of Research and Assessment for Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS). In her current role, she leads the district’s student assessment and research administration efforts. Fumie has served in several committees and working groups related to the district’s DEI efforts including District Equity Team, IPS community accountability fellowship, and language justice taskforce. Prior to joining IPS, she served as the Associate Director for the Study Abroad Foundation, where she supported finance, program coordination, operation, and student support functions to increase student mobility among college students from East Asia to US, Canada, UK, Oceania, and other European countries.
As someone who grew up outside of the U.S., learning how K-12 education works in America was a journey Fumie embarked on when her oldest child was turning five. She decided to serve in an urban school district to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for all children to succeed regardless of their race, socioeconomic background, or ability status in the community that she has called home since 2003.
Fumie holds a BA in Management from Sophia University in Tokyo, an MBA from University of Missouri, and an MEd from the Broad Center.
