Dr. Estella Bitson is the Assistant Superintendent, Tulsa Public Schools
Prior to taking on the role of Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Bitson was Instructional Superintendent for Elementary Schools for Tulsa Public Schools. In this role, Dr. Bitson brings a wealth of experience, leading incredible academic growth in her previous leadership roles as a principal and an instructional leadership director.
Dr. Bitson has received nominations for Jefferson City Public School District Teacher of the Year and The Zonta Women of Achievement Award, is a recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Award, and the Robert/Myrod Jackson Keeper of the Dream Award from Lincoln University. She also received a scholarship to attend the Gateway School Leadership Institute at St. Louis University. Dr. Bitson also attended the nationally renowned RELAY’s Principal Academy. She was the first African American Female Elementary Principal in the Jefferson City School District. Dr. Bitson was instrumental in the building design, curriculum implementation, and opening of Pioneer Trail Elementary School in Jefferson City, Missouri. Her aspiration to continue to be a part of a positive change in education at the elementary level led her to join Tulsa Public Schools.
Dr. Estella Bitson earned her B.S. in Education at Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Missouri (class of 1993); she received her Master’s in Elementary Administration from Lincoln University as a Seeney Scholarship student in 1996. Dr. Bitson holds a Specialist Degree in Administration (1997) and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri Columbia (2004).
