Dr. Shawn Williams is the Principal at Mallinckrodt Academy

In this role, Shawn serves as Principal at Mallinckrodt Academy of Gifted Instruction in Saint Louis, Missouri. Prior to leading Mallinckrodt Academy, Shawn served as the Assistant Principal at Gateway Math, Science, and Technology Elementary School where he served over 500 students. At Gateway, Shawn focused heavily on relationships and high expectations. His leadership drastically improved student morale at the school and added to the family-like culture. In addition to this, he worked closely with the instructional leaders at the school to pinpoint coaching needs for teachers and offered teachers real-time feedback to improve their practices.

As a teacher, Shawn was awarded the 2014 Pettus Foundation Award/ Teacher of the Year at Pierre Laclede Elementary School, where he taught third, fourth, and fifth grades. Working at Pierre Laclede Elementary and serving as a member of the instructional leadership team, Shawn assisted in moving the school from unaccredited to provisional accreditation within one school year, with full accreditation soon following. In addition to this, he has served as Principal at a small charter school in Saint Louis, Missouri where he coached teachers using real-time feedback and improved reading scores by 43% using time management and intentional professional development with reading and comprehension strategies.
Shawn holds Missouri certification as an elementary teacher and K-12 principal.

He earned his Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Maryville University-St. Louis, a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri Saint Louis, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Missouri State University. His hobbies include spending time with family and friends and reading, in addition to traveling and exploring urban metropolises.
