Rian Wright is the Deputy Chief, School Achievement at KIPP Texas Public Schools

In this role, she supports six 9-12 campuses. In 2013, Rian joined the KIPP Texas Houston Team and Family as the founding Director of College Counseling at KIPP Sunnyside High School (KSHS). She supported the founding class of 2014 to 100% college acceptance, 98% college matriculation, 100% FAFSA completion, and 1.18 million dollars of gift aid. In 2015, she continued her work at KSHS as an Assistant Principal for the 12th grade. During her time as Assistant Principal, she coached Advanced Placement courses and her work increased Advanced Placement pass rates by 20%. From 2016-2020 Rian served as the School Leader of KIPP Sunnyside High School. Under her leadership, KIPP Sunnyside High School earned stated distinctions in mathematics and science, increased ACT performance by 10%, and expanded AP access to 100% of students.

Rian earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Central Michigan University, her master’s degree in High Education Administration, and a doctorate in Education Policy and Planning from The University of Texas at Austin.
