Michelle Gieg is the Vice President of Operations for Democracy Prep.

Previously, Michelle was the Executive Director for Democracy Prep Baton Rouge. As Executive Director, Michelle has led the school to earn a growth progress index score of an A or B for every years of the school's existence. Before serving as the Founding Principal, Michelle worked for Teach For America as Senior Managing Director of their teacher-training Institute in the Mississippi Delta, where she was responsible for the training and development of incoming Teach For America corps members across several regions. At the start of her career in education, Michelle was a 2006 Teach For America Corps Member, serving in Baton Rouge. In her professional career, Michelle is most proud of earning the Baton Rouge Business Reports 40 Under 40 award in 2015 and serving as Chair of Baton Rouge Mayor's Sharon Weston Broome's transition committee on Race Relations. Michelle's biggest leadership belief is that every problem is solvable, and thus leads with a strong sense of optimism about the work ahead of us in our community.

Michelle holds a B.A. from Louisiana State University.
