Fellowship Role: Regional Director of College Success & Systems Management with Democracy Prep Public School
John Lindquist is the Regional Director of College Success & Systems Management with Democracy Prep Public Schools.
In this role, he manages the college access and persistence strategies for DPPS’s regional schools and oversees all college-related data collection and external reporting for the Network. Prior to joining the Fellowship, John served as the Assistant Director of College Success with DPPS where he oversaw network support services for over 900 first generation college students, resulting in a college persistence rate of over 74% and a matriculation rate of 92%. John has also served as Acting Principal and Assistant Principal of the network’s founding high school, which ranked as one of the top 50 high schools in New York State by US News & World Report during his tenure.
Prior to his leadership roles, John taught high school math with both DPPS and the NYC DOE, leading his students to +90% pass rates on state testing and an overall average on the 2011-2012 NY State Geometry Regents that ranked amongst the top 2% of all NYC schools. John started his career in education as a college counselor at Minneapolis North High School with College Possible, where he was awarded Americorps Member of the Year for ensuring 100% of his students were accepted to college, with over 50% receiving full scholarship.
John holds a Masters of Science for Teachers from Pace University and BA in mathematics and economics from St. Olaf College.
