Ashley Beverly, Indianapolis Public Schools, Family & Community Engagement Manager
Rooted in the belief that relationships and community are the foundation for thriving students, Ashley Beverly is a passionate educator and family advocate with over a decade in education. A proud graduate of Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University (an HBCU where the motto “Service is Sovereignty” still fuels her work), Ashley began her journey as an elementary educator, serving for six years in the classroom. There, she centered her teaching around whole-child and family development—leading academic planning, fostering strong team collaboration, and creating a safe, advocacy-driven space for her scholars and their families.
Motivated by a deep commitment to building trust and stronger school-family partnerships, Ashley transitioned into operations, serving as an Associate Director of Operations for K-5. In this role, she oversaw school purchasing, managed staff, assisted with transportation and co-led family engagement efforts through a nonprofit partnership—supporting outreach strategies and assisting with grant work aimed at better serving families.
Currently, Ashley serves in a Family & Community Engagement Manager role for Indianapolis Public Schools district. She leads efforts to reconnect and empower families across the district , including revitalizing the district’s Parent Institute (now Family Academy), which provides programs around health, fitness, summer resources, and future planning. She also leads the district’s spelling bee, coordinates the Superintendent's Ambassador Council & Student Council visits, and organizes donation drives to support scholars. In addition to her personal led projects, she values team support with other initiatives at the district level.
An alum of Teach For America and a 2018 Teacher of the Year, Ashley’s work is fueled by her ongoing connection to the classroom and her unwavering belief in the power of family voice, trust, engagement and advocacy.
