Fellowship Role: Assistant Director of Redesign for DC Public Schools

 

Dr. William L. Blake currently serves as the Assistant Director of Redesign for DC Public Schools.

Prior to his current role, William was the Director, Student Engagement, Behavioral Health, and Academics, Office of Student and Family Support and Engagement for Montgomery County Public Schools. Preiously, William was the Director of Social Emotional Learning, District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). In this role, William collaborated with internal/external stakeholders to ensure every student receives a holistic learning experience that prepares them for academic and social success. Prior to joining the Fellowship, William has served as a Secondary Principal on both the High school and Middle school level, High School Assistant Principal and Classroom Teacher in Washington D.C. and Prince George's County, Maryland. As a former school leader, William increased graduation rates by double digits by leading a team to establish a credit recovery academy to ensure students graduate within a four-year cohort model. Due to his exemplary work as an educator, William has been recognized as a recipient of the Lifechanger of the Year Award by the National Life Group.

William holds a Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, a Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Trinity University and a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Family & Consumer Sciences from Morgan State University. William is the co-founder of the National Association of Black Male Educators and a devoted member to the Washington (DC) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
