Current Role: Assistant Superintendent, Pine Bluff School District (Pine Bluff, AR)

Fellowship Role: Assistant Associate Superintendent, Little Rock School District (Little Rock, AR)

Jonathan serves as an Assistant Superintendent with Pine Bluff School District in Arkansas.

During the Fellowship, Jonathan was Assistant Associate Superintendent with Little Rock School District, where he assisted with a number of initiatives for the district, including a new teacher and administrator evaluation system and a teacher recruitment program as well as continuing to oversee his former school. Prior to the Fellowship, Jonathan served as the principal of Baseline Academy in Little Rock. In two years, Baseline became a model site for school improvement as identified by the Arkansas Department of Education. Jonathan was selected as the 2014 Arkansas Teacher of the Year while teaching at Palestine Wheatley High School. His students were recognized for the most improved literacy scores in the state of Arkansas, improving from 36% to 92% proficient or advanced. Jonathan was recently selected as a national honor roll teacher for the Fishman Prize for Superlative Classroom Practice, the Lowell Milken Fellowship for Unsung Heroes, and a regional finalist for the White House Fellowship.

Jonathan holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of South Carolina and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Arkansas Tech University, and he is currently pursuing an Ed.S. and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Arkansas Tech University.
