Anna Westlund serves as Director of Recruitment for St. Louis Public Schools.

In this role, she is responsible for recruiting and building talent strategy and systems for all levels of the organization, with a strong focus on teachers. Additional projects include building internal and external pipelines, developing strategy to improve teacher retention, and managing the development of a new staffing continuum. Prior to joining the Fellowship, Anna served as the principal of Carver Elementary School in St. Louis Public Schools, where she led her team to achieve an average of 1.5 years of reading growth each year for each student. Her work also reduced suspensions from over 25 to two annually. During 2016-2017, Anna completed the St. Louis Public Schools Aspiring Superintendents Academy and Relay's National Principals Academy Fellowship, the latter of which she graduated from with distinction. Before joining St. Louis Public Schools, Anna was an AVID Coordinator in Prince George's County, where she also completed New Leaders’ Emerging Leaders Program.

Anna holds a Masters of Arts in International Education from the George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Wheaton College.
