Fellowship Role: Deputy Chief, Leadership Development, DC Public Schools (Washington, DC)

Andria is an Instructional Superintendent with DC Public Schools (DCPS).

During the Fellowship, she served as the Deputy Chief, Leadership Development, responsible for overseeing the district’s leadership development initiatives. Prior to joining the Fellowship, Andria served as the Director of Learning for DC Public Schools’ aspiring principal pipeline program, the Mary Jane Patterson Fellowship. As the director of learning, she was responsible for recruiting in-district talent, designing and facilitating learning experiences aligned to the principal readiness standards, and coaching aspiring principals throughout the 18-month Fellowship. During her tenure at DC Public Schools, Andria has also served as an assistant principal at Takoma Education Campus and the principal of West Education Campus. Under her leadership, the scholars at West achieved the second highest PARCC scores for K-8 schools in DCPS in its inaugural testing year (2014/2015), scoring above the district’s averages in ELA and Math. Under her leadership, enrollment grew almost 15%, landing a 2015 feature in the Washington Post, and the school implemented the University of Connecticut’s Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM). Andria has also taught third through fifth grades in Nashville Public Schools and Los Angeles Unified School District.

Andria holds an M.Ed. in K-12 School Administration from Peabody at Vanderbilt University and a B.A. in Art Theory and Practice from Northwestern University.
