Dr. Alison Welcher currently serves as the Founder and CEO of Thrive Life Coaching
Previously Dr. Welcher served as the Senior Vice President, Opportunity Culture at Public Impact (Charlotte, NC). Prior to her time with Public Impact, she was the Vice President of School Turnarounds and Transformation at Public Impact. As a fellow, she served as the Director of School Leadership for Project L.I.F.T. with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. In this role, she provided coaching and professional development to school leaders in the nine Project L.I.F.T. schools, ranging K-12 and serving over 7,500 scholars. Prior to this role, she served as the Principal of Ranson IB Middle School in Charlotte, NC. In this capacity, she led school turnaround, serving over 1,000 scholars and over 100 staff members. During her tenure, Ranson IB was one of four schools to launch the Opportunity Culture Initiative and was named in the “Getting Smart: 100 Schools Worth Visiting” in 2014. In 2014- 2015, she led her school to increase the school accountability performance grade from a D to a C in one year, and the school was in the top 25 schools in the state for the Student Growth Index, with an 11.84 growth index resulting in “exceeding expected growth.” Before joining Project L.I.F.T., Alison was an Assistant Principal of Instruction/Strategic Staffing Initiative at Zebulon B. Vance High School in Charlotte, NC.
Dr. Welcher holds an Ed.L.D. in Educational Leadership and Administrations from Harvard’s Graduate School of education, an M.Ed. in Risk and Prevention from Harvard and a B.A. in English from Spelman College.
